Lingco is excited to be hosting the 2023-2024 National German Exam (NGE)! We’ve created a modern online educational platform designed to help instructors more effectively teach students foreign languages, and we believe this is a perfect fit for national exams like the NGE. We’re doing everything we can to make the exam this year as smooth as possible, and we’ve created this guide to help get you started.
Lingco is a modern web-based application that works best with the latest version of Google Chrome, running on a laptop or desktop computer (either Mac, PC or Chromebook). It also works on the last two versions of Safari, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge, but Chrome is highly recommended. The activities used in the NGE are designed for larger screens, so we don’t support using any mobile device or tablet at this time.
In order to take the NGE on Lingco you’ll also need:

If you haven't used Lingco before, you'll need to create an instructor account first. AATG members will receive an NGE registration link through email on Oct. 2, 2023 that will invite them to sign up for a Lingco account. If you did not receive this email, you can also find the link by visiting www.nge.aatg.org/registration. If the “Instructor Code” does not autofill, please reach out to our customer support chat.
If you already have a Lingco account, use the registration link provided by AATG to login to your account. After logging in, you will be taken to the registration page.
Once you click on the AATG registration link, you'll first be prompted to either log in (if you already have a Lingco account) or to create an account:
You will be asked to provide your name, school, and email address in order to create a Lingco account. Once you've created your account (or logged in to your existing one) you'll be taken to the Levels 1, 2a-4a NGE Registration Dashboard in Lingco.
On the Levels 1, 2a-4a NGE Registration Dashboard you will see a welcome message and instructions for registering. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the registration form. You will need to provide information about yourself, your school, and the level(s) your students will be taking. Additionally, you will select the total number of “seats” (i.e. exams) you will be purchasing. If you don’t know how many seats you will need yet, select one. If you don’t know which levels you will be administering yet, select all levels. Lingco will generate a registration confirmation document that will provide instructions for submitting payment (visit nge.aatg.org/payment for more details and applicable fees).
